Tyler's 9 Month Checkup

Today was Tyler's 9 month appointment with his pediatrician. So how is he measuring up:

  • Weight: 18lb 10oz / 10-25%
  • Height: 28 3/4 in / 50-75%
  • Head Circumference: 18 in / 50-75%

Since his 6 month appointment he has gained 3lbs and grown 2 1/2 inches. They pricked his toe to check his hemoglobin levels and he got a Hepatitis B shot. His iron level is a bit low, but not low enough to warrant putting him on iron supplements. His pediatrician said to just give him more meats in his diet and he should be good. So I went to the store and got him some ground beef and ground turkey to add to his lunch and dinners. I also got him some Arrowroot cookies as a treat and he LOVES them.

Happy 9 Month Birthday Tyler!

HAPPY NINE MONTHS BABY BOY! Recently Tyler figured out how to become mobile. He's not doing a full crawl on his hands and knees, but he is a pro at the army crawl. He's happy as long as he can get himself around. Tyler has started waving hi and bye which is too cute! He also LOVES to eat. We started him on a lot more finger foods and so far he really enjoys:

  • elbow macaroni
  • chicken
  • ground beef
  • shredded cheese
  • yogurt
  • as well as all kinds of chopped up fruit and vegetables
Today when daddy picked him up from daycare (I am home sick with a stomach bug) his teacher gave him half a graham cracker. Tim said he put Tyler in his car seat and tried to take the cracker. Of course Tyler started to cry, so Tim gave it back to him. We live maybe 3 minutes away from the daycare center and Tim said when they pulled into the driveway all that was left were crumbs on his shirt --haha. The boy doesn't play around with his food.

Here are a few pictures that were taken last night of Tyler in the living room, trying to figure out the step, as well as a video Tim took of him sleeping in his jumper.

Lake Anna

Today we had a fantastic time out at Lake Anna with our friends Aaron, Angela and Andrew. This was Tyler's first time out on a boat and he had a really great time.

Now he is trying to eat his toes.

After the lake we went to Outback for dinner. I didn't have enough food for Tyler, so he got his very own sweet potato. He also ate some of my steamed vegetables. Yum!

Our weekend in Hopewell and North Carolina

This weekend we went to Hopewell to visit Tim's family and also North Carolina to visit his sister and to celebrate his Great Uncle's 90th birthday party. We all had a great time and Tyler LOVED seeing everyone.

Tyler's First Battle Scar

I know it has been forever since I posted last and I will hopefully one day get caught up, but I thought I would take a few minutes to blog about Tyler's first battle scar. When Tim and I picked Tyler up from daycare this afternoon, they told us he had had an accident. Apparently he was standing on the outside of an exersaucer playing when he tried to take a step, lost his balance and crashed right into the edge of a cabinet. They said he cried just a few minutes, but stopped and was fine. They put ice on the area and kept a close eye on him the rest of the day. He doesn't seemed bothered by it at all, but he has a nice little welt as a reminder. The first of many to come I am sure.

Tyler's First School Pictures

This isn't his best picture, but I thought it was still cute.

Such a great weekend!

We had a great family weekend and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. On Saturday, Tyler and I went to the Occoquan Days Craft Fair with Mee Maw, Aunt Krissy, and his cousins Amie and Amber. We had a really nice time and Tyler experienced his very first bus ride, which he really seemed to enjoy. After the craft fair, we we headed home. Daddy spent his afternoon smoking pork BBQ on the grill. Tyler's friend Andrew came over to play while we ate dinner with Aaron, Angela and Chris. The only problem is the BBQ wasn't quiet ready to eat, so we ordered some take out and hung up on the deck and enjoyed the weather.

On Sunday we started off having another lazy day. We decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and broke out Tyler's baby pool. This is the first time he had been in his pool and he had a great time. His friend Natalie came over to play as well.

We then did round two for the BBQ and Chris, Aaron, Angela and Andrew came back over for dinner and it was AWESOME! Gold Star Tim!

"Da Da"

For a while now Tyler has been babbling; changing the tone of his voice as if he was holding an actual conversation with us. Recently Tim and I started repeating "da da" to him to see if he would catch on. For the past few days he would say "da", but he wasn't stringing it together. Well today for the first time he said "da da" and not just once, but over and over again. :) Tim is now working on "ma ma"!

Big BOY with a sippy cup and puffs!

Today when we picked up Tyler from daycare, his teacher told us he was a big boy and drank really well from his sippy cup and ate a puff. We went straight from the daycare to the grocery store and bought Tyler some Gerber Graduate Puffs and gave him some when we got home. He ate the puffs and drank from his sippy cup like a big boy!

Aubrie's 2nd Birthday

Saturday we went to Aubrie's 2nd birthday party and Tyler got to play on a slip and slide and a moon bounce!

Lunch Time!

Well sort of... I tried some finger foods with Tyler, but he wasn't really interested. He does like the mesh feeder and his high chair though. :)

Finally some medicine for the sick baby...

As most of you know Tyler has had some sort of a cold since about January. We've taken him back to the doctor multiple times to have him checked, but they usually tell us we are doing everything we can for him and there isn't any they can give him right now. Over the past few days, Tyler's cough has gotten progressively worse. He coughs so hard he gags/chokes himself at the end. I noticed he was wheezing a bit yesterday after I picked him up from daycare so I called his doctor's office to see if there are any other symptoms I need to be keeping an eye out for so he doesn't wind up with pneumonia. The nurse suggested we bring him in to be checked, so we took the 7:50 appointment and headed out the door. when we first got to the office they did a quick check of Tyler's weight. With all his clothes on was a hefty 16lbs 11oz - ha. After his weigh in we sat in the exam room for a few minutes where Tyler discovered the fun crinkly sounding paper that was draped over the exam table. He did a pretty good job of tearing it up. After a few minutes, Dr. Christian (who I love) examined Tyler and said he was definitely wheezing and she wanted to try a Nebulizer treatment with Albuterol. She said Tyler also still have fluid in his ears and it was a little cloudy, so instead of waiting for it to turn into an infection she prescribed him some Amoxicillian to take 2x a day for 7 days. After the Nebulizer treatment, Dr. Christian rechecked Tyler and said he already sounded a bit clearer, so he is now doing a treatment 3x a day for the next 5 days. He goes back tomorrow for a follow-up to see how his breathing is doing. Of course Tyler never passes up a photo op when a camera is present. I just love this little boy!
