Tyler's 2 Year Checkup

We took Tyler for his 2 year well check-up. Turns out his fever is due too an ear infection and my poor little man has pink eye in both eyes. I feel like such a bad mom for not realizing the fever this weekend was an ear infection. We have to go back in two weeks to get his vaccinations, but in the meantime here is how he is measuring up:

* Weight: 27lbs 13.5oz / 40%
* Height: 36 in / 85%
* Head Circumference: 20 / 93%

Basically he is a tall, thin, and big headed boy. LOVE HIM!

Tyler is 2!

Happy Birthday to my little man! Today was Tyler's 2nd birthday. We did a joint party with his friends Ashleigh and Matthew who will be turning 2 in two weeks. We invited all of his friends and had a costume party. Unfortunately Tyler hasn't been feeling well and even had a 102.5 fever last night. I think he had a good time overall, but he refused to put on his costume and he cried/whined a lot throughout the day. He got some great presents to include his new cars, pajamas, new bedding sets, his woody and goofy dolls, books, games, play doh, and puzzles. Thank you to everyone that made this birthday a great day for Tyler. Well I just took his temperature again and he is back to 102.5. I hope he is feeling better in the morning.

And so potty training begins...

A while back we bought Tyler an insert for the toilet and his very own step stool to get him used to the idea of actually using the potty. Initially the entire concept didn't go over very well and with Kyle coming along we didn't put much effort into it either. We introduced him a few more times to his little seat and pretty much forced him to sit on it, but he never would go. He would just tell us he was "all done" as soon as he sat down and would try to get back up. Well tonight for the very first time Tyler went poo-poo on the big potty!!! Looks like I am going to be breaking out the Elmo's Potty Time DVD again. I'm very proud of him, although I'm not looking forward to this whole potty training process. Any suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated. =)

Finally Back Home

Well we are finally back home. We got to the house around 1:15pm this afternoon. It is nice to be home, but I definitely wouldn't mind still being at the beach. We are looking forward to sleeping in our own bed tonight though. Speaking of sleeping in your own bed... I put Tyler down for a nap this evening and went into our room to unpack some more. After about 20 minutes I heard him talking and clapping. I thought the clapping sounded a little strange though, so I walked to his room to check on him. This is what I found:

Turns out he wasn't clapping he was banging on the railing of his crib. :) Needless to say the bumper has now been removed and the mattress has been lowered.

Tyler also has his first tooth breaking through! We can feel the very tip and you can see it if you are close. I'll be sure to post a picture as soon as his tooth is in.

Tyler's 9 Month Checkup

Today was Tyler's 9 month appointment with his pediatrician. So how is he measuring up:

  • Weight: 18lb 10oz / 10-25%
  • Height: 28 3/4 in / 50-75%
  • Head Circumference: 18 in / 50-75%

Since his 6 month appointment he has gained 3lbs and grown 2 1/2 inches. They pricked his toe to check his hemoglobin levels and he got a Hepatitis B shot. His iron level is a bit low, but not low enough to warrant putting him on iron supplements. His pediatrician said to just give him more meats in his diet and he should be good. So I went to the store and got him some ground beef and ground turkey to add to his lunch and dinners. I also got him some Arrowroot cookies as a treat and he LOVES them.

Happy 9 Month Birthday Tyler!

HAPPY NINE MONTHS BABY BOY! Recently Tyler figured out how to become mobile. He's not doing a full crawl on his hands and knees, but he is a pro at the army crawl. He's happy as long as he can get himself around. Tyler has started waving hi and bye which is too cute! He also LOVES to eat. We started him on a lot more finger foods and so far he really enjoys:

  • elbow macaroni
  • chicken
  • ground beef
  • shredded cheese
  • yogurt
  • as well as all kinds of chopped up fruit and vegetables
Today when daddy picked him up from daycare (I am home sick with a stomach bug) his teacher gave him half a graham cracker. Tim said he put Tyler in his car seat and tried to take the cracker. Of course Tyler started to cry, so Tim gave it back to him. We live maybe 3 minutes away from the daycare center and Tim said when they pulled into the driveway all that was left were crumbs on his shirt --haha. The boy doesn't play around with his food.

Here are a few pictures that were taken last night of Tyler in the living room, trying to figure out the step, as well as a video Tim took of him sleeping in his jumper.

Tyler's First Battle Scar

I know it has been forever since I posted last and I will hopefully one day get caught up, but I thought I would take a few minutes to blog about Tyler's first battle scar. When Tim and I picked Tyler up from daycare this afternoon, they told us he had had an accident. Apparently he was standing on the outside of an exersaucer playing when he tried to take a step, lost his balance and crashed right into the edge of a cabinet. They said he cried just a few minutes, but stopped and was fine. They put ice on the area and kept a close eye on him the rest of the day. He doesn't seemed bothered by it at all, but he has a nice little welt as a reminder. The first of many to come I am sure.
